There has been delayes at the Beitbridge border post following a strike by South African Revenue Services (SARS) employees over a pay rise.

The state of affairs has led to the slow movement of commercial cargo entering or leaving South Africa.

Workers downed tools last week, demanding a 12% wage increase while the employer is offering a 1.3%.

The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) has since alerted its clients of possible service delivery interruptions. Said ZIMRA:

ZIMRA wishes to draw the attention of its stakeholders, clients, travelling public & transporters of the development below which might have an impact on service delivery at the Beitbridge Border. Clients are urged to take note & to make the necessary arrangements & adjustments.
