Zimbabwean born David Mwanaka has become the first African farmer to grow white maize in the United Kingdom.

In 1991, Mwanaka left his job as a journalist, due to the uncertainty of Zimbabwe’s politics and economy.

He went on to establish Mwanaka Fresh Farm Foods which has now diversified into various products in Britain.

Mwanaka faced a lot of challenges to set up his now blooming farming business however, it finally paid off after six years of hard work.

In recognition of his milestone, the Queen of England in 2010 invited Mwanaka to Buckingham palace.

Mwanaka Fresh Farm now has two stores in London and another in Birmingham and is looking to expand to different parts of the UK.
