Prominent human rights lawyer Beatrice Mtetwa will deliver a memorial lecture in honor of Dr Alex Tawanda Magaisa at the Celebration Center in Borrowdale Harare today.
Writing on Facebook, Hopewell Chin’ono said Dr Magaisa was a towering Zimbabwean public intellectual whose passing has broken the nation.
Magaisa suffered a cardiac arrest Sunday, morning. In 2013, he announced on Facebook he had been diagnosed with a heart problem.
In his illustrious career, Dr Magaisa taught thousands of students at the University of Kent (UKC), and also worked as principal advisor to the Zimbabwean Prime Minister.
Other tributes will also come from Fortune Chasi, Professor Lovemore Madhuku, Chin’ono, Fadzayi Mahere, Nigel Chanakira and many others.
