The new Zambian government of President Hakainde Hichilema has been shocked to find over that over 33 000 imported vehicles registered between 2015 and 2021 do not have valid import papers.
In a statement issued today, the ZRA has invited affected vehicle owners to check if their cars are on the database of such vehicles on their website.
Corruption was rampant under previous Zambian governments, which included massive looting and payment of kickbacks to government officials.
President Hakainde Hichilema has adopted a no nonsense approach to corruption and has ordered wide ranging audits in many government operations.
