The Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA) launched a panic alert button to help media practitioners ensure their safety during emergencies.
The launch was necessitated by the increase in the number of attacks against journalists in the country.
Journalists are being harassed, intimidated, and arrested, injured, and face trumped-up charges for their reporting.
MISA has called for the safety of journalists to be a priority during events like 2023 general elctions
The alert button serves as a major resource to ensure their safety.
