President Emmerson Mnangagwa has mourned ZANU PF Bulawayo Pronvincial chairperson Ruth Shelton.

Ruth succumbed to kidney failure early this week at the age of her late 30s.

In a statement, Mnangagwa said Ruth was an inspiration to many people within ZANU PF.

It is with great sadness that we have received the news of the passing away of Cde Ruth Shelton, an outstanding vibrant and youthful Bulawayo Province Political Commissar born on the 15th of October 1985 who passed on, on the 18th of May 2022.

We thank God for Cde Ruth’s life which as Young Women for Economic Development we witnessed one of our own rise through the ranks of Party Structures, from the Youth League Provincial Executive to being the Political Commissar for the Bulawayo Province, she was an inspiration to many young female Comrades within and outside the party structures, a humble and progressive patriotic cadre who was always dedicated torwards the progress of our revolutionary party and country at large.

As we mourn her passing away, the Young Women for ED recognises and remembers her invaluable contributions to the ecumenical movement through supporting our Bulawayo Province Chapter in their developmental projects and activities which they held in line with National Development Strategy 1 (NDS-1), She will be remembered as one of the great ecumenical young female leaders from Bulawayo Metropolitan Province.

I take this opportunity to convey our sincere condolences to the members of the bereaved family ,the ruling party of ZANU PF and her daughter Sophie. This is really Sad. You made the Young Women of Zimbabwe believe they can do it.
May her soul rest in peace and memory be eternal.
