Zimbabwean runner Isaac Mpofu was disqualified at the Durban International Marathon held at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Sunday for wearing one bib number.

Athletics South Africa (ASA) competition rules stipulate that “all runners should have two bib numbers, one at the front and another on the back.

The disqualification cost Mpofu R50 000 in prize money and qualification for the world championships in July.

The number one position was given to Tumelo Motlagale, who had come in second.
