Paul Kagame suspends youth minister Edouard Bamporiki for corruption

Rwanda President Paul Kagame has suspended his Youth Minister Edouard Bamporiki from cabinet for corruption involving US$400.

Edouard admitted on Twitter that he had had indeed committed a crime of corruption and he pleaded with the President to forgive him.

Bamporiki, 39, was previously a supporter of President Kagame and the ruling party.

He was appointed to the cabinet in 2019, and also served as Chairman of Rwanda’s National Itorero Commission.

He has been placed under house arrest as investigations into the case are underway.
