Former MDC Alliance spokeswoman, Fadzayi Mahere, who is tipped to land the Vice President position, has openly defied Chamisa and opposed the admission of Khupe in the CCC. In recent days, Mahere has boycotted the events that were attended by Khupe.
On the other hand, Chamisa has now welcomed Khupe into the CCC and she is tipped to be one of five Vice Presidents.
Other CCC leaders such as Biti, Sikhala, Hwende and Karenyi Kore, have also boycotted events at which Khupe has been present.
Key decisions for Chamisa
Khupe is a key figure in Matabeleland. Welshman Ncube is struggling with failing health. Chamisawill be forced to include Khupe in the CCC leadership if he is to win the Matabeleland vote.
How Chamisa deals with this difficult issue will be his biggest leadership test ahead of the 2023 elections.
