Award winning journalist Hopewell Chin’ono has begged President Emmerson Mnangagwa to stop ZANU PF youths from taking his boer goat farm in Murewa, 87,6km from Harare.

This comes after ZANU PF Youth Leader Taurai Kandishaya vowed to lead a team of youths to go and collect his goats.

In a interview on SABC, Hopewell said he hopes that Mnangagwa can instruct the police to act against the youths harrasing him.

He added that senior government officials should speak out against this act of thuggery because it destroys the image of the country.

Chin’ono said he has serious concerns about his safety, “and if people can do this and then the government does not respond, and the police does not make a public statement against such kind of targeting. It means my security is not guaranteed as well.”

He also called upon SADC leaders to remind ZANU PF that it is a constitutional obligation to make sure that the safety of citizens is guaranteed.
