Citizen Coalition for Change (CCC) leader Nelson Chamisa has said former MDC-T leader Thokozani Khupe is free to join the party.
In an interview with NewsDay, Chamisa, said while everyone was free to be a member, the party would also define its membership and protect itself.
Chamisa said: “You can’t stop someone who has come and said they want to be part of CCC. After all, this is a citizen initiative, this belongs to the people, we are working to change the nation for the better, not for CCC, but everyone, so even those in Zanu PF who want to see change are welcome,”
Chamisa said citizens were the guardians and vanguard of the party with the mandate to put people in leadership positions.
CCC members in Bulawayo are wary of Khupe who was at the centre of decimating the MDC Alliance after recalling Chamisa’s parliamentarians and grabbing assets and funding from the party before being elbowed out by Douglas Mwonzora.
