The memorial service of the late Elvis Nyathi was held at the Empire in Hilbrow, Johannesburg today at 9.00am.

Nyathi was stoned and burnt to death by a group of vigilantes that went door-to-door in Diepsloot demanding that residents produce passports and identity documents to prove their nationality.

Ezra Tshisa Sibanda said, Elvis’ body will be transported to Zimbabwe on Thursday and is expected to be buried on Friday in Bulawayo.

The family is appealing for financial help to repatriate his body to Zimbabwe.

“Their wish is to see Zimbabweans living in South Africa accompany Elvis’s body to Bulawayo. They would love to have at least 2 buses to carry people. Please people, let’s get together and help this family.

Elvis was a bread winner and father of 4 who looked after and supported his family and also his extended family relied on him. Despite our difficulties, Zimbabweans are kind people and l trust they will come forward and help the family at this difficult time. E-Wallet the Family Rep Za on +27 78 561 2752
