Popular award winning Zimbabwean journalist, Hopewell Chin’ono,  has slammed Mukuru Money Transfers agents after he they ran out of cash and hundreds of Harare residents failed to collect their money that was sent by relatives from overseas.

Writing on Facebook, Chin’ono said:

Next time anyone wants to send me to receive money for anyone, please don’t use @mukurudotcom, use @WorldRemit

I went to Mukuru’s booths in town and they didn’t have money.

I went to their OK’s branch, and people queued outside like cattle.
World Remit has banking halls!

Chin’ono later received a call from the Mukuru CEO and updated his thousands of followers:

The Country Manager for Mukuru, Mark Carrie Wilson, called me and apologized about my experience.

I explained to him that it was more about the people than it was about me.
I told him that elderly folks and pregnant women were lined up outside OKs.

He promised me that he will talk to OK about increasing the number of tellers available and also adding another branch nearby.

I appreciate his making the call🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
