Minister in the presidium Mondli Gungubele has condemned recent violence and public clashes between South Africans and foreigners in Alexandra township.

He said no form of disorder or violence will resolve the matter instead peoole should wait for the law to take its cause.

During a post cabinet briefing, Gungubele said the law enforcement agencies quickly intervened in the matter, resulting in calm being restored.

More than five people have been arrested in connection to Alexandra violence.

Officials from the department of home affairs visited the Alex township to intervene in the clashes between members of the Dudula Movement and foreign nationals trading in the area.

Violent clashes between the two groups broke out on Monday living several people wounded and at least six others arrested.

Dudula wants undocumented foreign nationals to shut down their businesses and leave the Alex township.

Labour minister Thulasi Nxesi is tabling a policy to deal with the issues.
