WATCH LIVE as Gambakwe Media looks at the current campaign rallied by CCC President, Nelson Chamisa and the funding of his new party’s activities.

The new party, which is awash with cash, has surprised many onlookers with its branding, security and strategy capabilities.

The new CCC is a totally different party from the MDC Alliance that contested in 2018.

The rise of Hakainde Hichilema in Zimbabwe politics.

It is clear that Hakainde Hichilema has became the biggest funder of the CCC.

The election of Hakainde Hichilema in Zambia has came as a massive boost to the new party, whose leader Chamisa is a close friend of Hichilema.

Hichilema has rejected attempts by ZANU-PF to develop a relationship with UPND after youth leader, Joseph Kalimbwe continued to attack the party after the visit to that country by a delegation led by Obert Mpofu.

Nature of funding of CCC

1. Security

Chamisa has recently appeared with over 20 bodyguards and an amoured vehicle at the White City rally. This is in addition to the security that was already in the stadium. Chamisa is also travelling with a security convoy of about fife cars.

2. Branding and logistics

Chamisa’s new party has revealed it’s new flags, T-shirts, berets and trendy overalls which are being used by elections candidates and at rallies

3. Strategy and black ops

Chamisa ‘s team is showing signs of an advanced strategy. Chamisa’ s approach has changed, with specific emphasis on weakening ZANU-PF through accusing them of acts of violence.

In terms of black ops, it is clear that the CCC has improved its local and international communication of the negative aspects of ZANU-PF.

It is most likely that Hichilema has provided his campaign strategists to Chamisa as the two parties are using the same play book.

Why Hichilema is funding Chamisa

1. Hichilema, a Zambian billionaire, pledged during his innaguration to promote democracy in Southern Africa. Hichilema believes that the government in Zimbabwe has been victimising Chamisa. Before his arrival on the scene, there was a funding vacuum for Chamisa in the SADC region.

2. Hichilema was alarmed after Chamisa claimed that he was attacked in Masvingo by ZANU-PF supporters. The recent incidents in Kwekwe and Gokwe resulted in Chamisa getting funding on an even more urgent basis from the Zambians.

3. Hichilema is a Christian and so is Chamisa, who is a Pastor. Hichilema believes that Chamisa was anointed by God to lead Zimbabwe, just like himself.

Developing relationships between Zambia and CCC.

1. The CCC has opened a regional office immediately after the election of Hichilema.

2. A delegation from the CCC visited Zambia after the election of Hichilema.

3. Chamisa was invited to the innaguration of Hichilema and attended with Vice President, Tendai Biti.

How far will Hichilema go?

The Zimbabwe 2023 elections will be different and Hichilema will play a prominent role in the developments in Zimbabwe.

The events of 2008, 2013 and 2018 can not be repeated in 2023 as Hichilema is likely to publicly intervene.

Previously, Chamisa’s appeals to the SADC and to the UN have been ignored.

What Should Mnangagwa do?

ZANU-PF and President Mnangagwa need to recognize the change of the times and adjust their strategies.

The new CCC is well funded and poses a different type of regional and international threat to that of the MDC Alliance.

The biggest counter to any external interference in Zimbabwe is dialogue. There should be a big push to create a peaceful atmosphere ahead of the 2023 elections.
