Zimbabweans are in danger after a Zimbabwean vendors leader threatened that there will be bloodshed if operation Dudula continues.

The statement was made on Alex FM radio station by a man called Dube, resulting in scuffles between Zimbabweans and South Africans afterwards.

Several people were injured after the clashes erupted in Alexandra between South Africans and migrants. Some South Africans joinednon the side of the Zimbabweans.

Operation Dudula says they want illegal foreign nationals to leave the country as they blame them for occupying jobs that they say should be held by South Africans.

The group has repeatedly said that many young South Africans have qualifications but turned to drugs and alcohol because they cannot find work.

SABC reporter Lindoluhle Xulu said the community members were allegedly searching for migrant employees and shop owners who did not have valid paperwork.

The number of those injured is not yet clear.

After the clash, several shops closed their doors. It is not clear how community members identified who is undocumented.
