Former Zimbabwe Vice Prime Minister, Professor Authur Mutambara, has slammed South African President, Cyril Ramaphosa.

Writing in a Sunday Times newspaper article that was published today, Mutambara  said Ramaphosa’s State of the Nation Address (SONA), shows that he is ideologically bankrupt and strategically incoherent.

Mutambara said Ramaphosa ‘s statement that: ‘Government does not create jobs, the private sector does’ detracts from his national vision and undermines his efforts to address the crisis that faces South Africa.

Mutambara asked rhetorically : Why should the government stop at being an enabler? Why can’t the government also create jobs?

Mutambara went on to give the examples of China, Singapore, Malaysia  and Rwanda as countries where state owned enterprises (SEOs) create jobs.

Mutambara is currently Director and Professor of knowledge at the University of Johannesburg.
