The newly formed Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) led by Advocate Nelson Chamisa has been rocked by chaos ahead of the much anticipated by-elections.

Nelson Chamisa fielded double candidates in some constituencies to contest in the local council by-elections.

The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) nomination court sat Wednesday to accept candidates to contest in vacant parliamentary and municipal elections across the country.

However, there was chaos in the CCC-led Nelson Chamisa party as it fielded double candidates in Masvingo Urban and Bulawayo local council elections.

The Party confirmed fielding double candidates in the two Constituencies.

“Today, the new kid on the block successfully fielded candidates in just about every vacant seat for the upcoming by-elections in line with our fresh, unprecedented community candidate selection process which puts citizens at the center of the process,” posted the party.

“Out of 143 vacant seats, we only had challenges in 3. The organs of the movement are seized with the matter to ensure everything is rectified. We assure the citizens that there will be no double candidates and the will of the people will prevail,” the party added.

“We’ve drawn lessons from our first ever community candidate selection process. In line with these lessons, we are perfecting our template & systems in the full knowledge that the room for improvement can never be filled,” said the party on its social media pages.
