The President of Botswana, His Excellency Mogkweetsi Masisi is set to miss the SADC extraordinary Summit.

 

Masisi will not attend the Summit as he is still self isolating after he tested positive for coronavirus few days.

 

The acting President, Mr. Slumber will participate at the Extraordinary Summit of SADC Heads of State and Government, on 12th January 2022.

 

The Summit will be held in Lilongwe, Malawi.

 

The meeting will be chaired by His Excellency Dr Lazarus Chakwera, the president of Malawi.

 

 

The main objective of the Summit is to receive the mandate of the SADC Mission to Mozambique.

 

The deployment of the SAMIM was approved by the Extraordinary SADC Summit of 23rd June 2021, to support Mozambique’s efforts to combat acts of terrorism and violent extremism in the country’s Cabo Delgado Province.
