Bright Maguchete an aspiring entreprenuer based in Belvedere Harare says he is making money through running a successful rabbit business.
Bright said his business is booming. With increased demand of rabbit meat due to its delicacy and nutritional value, restaurants and retail shops in Zimbabwe have turned out to be his big customers.
Maguchete revealed that he is working on expanding his business into a restuarant however, he did not reveal how much he is making.
He said he started as a farmer rearing chickens around 2012 after he quit his job at Coperate finance.
Maguchete formed his business the white meat company aimed at selling white meat to the people.
He said he quit rearing chicken as he was no longer making profit due to market saturation.
Bright then established a rabbit business after selling his personal vehicle for $8000 to source funding for the rabbitry.
What started as hobby since an early age has become a profitable commercial venture, which has enabled him to reinvest the proceeds in his business while meeting other financial obligations.
He said the main advantage of rearing rabbits is that their offspring grow fast and reach breeding and marketing age more quickly than other livestock.
Bright said for those looking for a lucrative income stream, commercial rabbits farming might be an option to seriously consider since rabbits do not require large amounts of space compared to other species.
