Youtuber Nicholas Mabhena says South African cabinet’s decision on Zimbabwe exemption permits still stands.

This comes amid social media news hinting on the withdrawal of ZEPs through directive no. 10 of 2021 issued on 29 November.

Mabhena said the directive was simple explaining the decision taken by the government not to renew exemption permits.

He added that the directive created confusion after being issued following banks and employees threatening to close and fire those with ZEPs expiring on the 31st of December.

Cde Mabhena said the directive did not clarify correctly the cabinet’s decision however the 12months grace period is from 01 January to 31 December hence there is no reason for banks to close down.
