South Africa orders Banks and companies to recognize expired ZEP permits

South Africa Home Affairs department has ordered Banks and companies to recognize expired Zimbabwean Exemption Permit (ZEP).

This comes after Banks in South Africa threatened to freeze accounts of Zimbabweans holding the Zimbabwean Exemption Permit (ZEP) if they don’t provide new documents in January 2022.

Many said banks have been refusing to grant them loans and cancelling their pre-approved bond applications, while employers were not renewing contracts because of their uncertain status.

The cabinet said in the 12 months grace period, Zimbabweans should apply for mainstream visas that they qualify for and those who fail will be deported.
