The Star newspaper reports that over 300 foreigners are stranded in Cape Town after various countries imposed a travel ban on passengers traveling from South Africa.

Cape Town Tourism had to step in and arrange alternative accommodation for the 300 passengers while they awaited communication from their embassies.

A plane that took off from South Africa to Mauritius yesterday landed and all passengers were takem into quarantine at the cost of the Mauritius government.

This came after Mauritius banned all travellers from South Africa while the plane was already in the air.

The Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority announced that the suspension will be in place until 31 December.
