President Hakainde Hichilema has left Zambia for the Democratic Republic of Congo in a bid to improve trade relations with neighbouring countries.

Addressing the media at ZAF airport, Hichilema said it is a tradition in the SADC region for a new president to share his or her ideas with the rest of the continent.

Zambia has eight neighbours and Hichilema has only visited two countries Botswana and South Africa, DRC being the third one.

He added that it is essential to visit all neighbouring countries so as to mend political relations, trade relations, security measures and secure investments.
