LEO Kanyimo, the 38-year old-Gweru man who brutally murdered his wife and their two minor collapsed and died as he awaited hearing Thursday because of multiple injuries he sustained.

A police officer who escorted Kanyimo fromĀ  police station however told reporters that he may have succumbed to multiple injuries he sustained from members of the community when they were trying restrain him.

 

ā€œWhen we arrived at court he appeared very unwell,ā€ a police officer who attended the scene said.

 

ā€œBesides stitched deep cuts on his head he also had bruises on his body and when we arrived just outside court cells he collapsed and passed on.ā€

The body was later taken to Gweru Provincial Hospital mortuary.

 

Circumstances on the case are that in the afternoon of November 2, a neighbour, Naison Matavire heard cries of people asking for help.

 

Matavire teamed up with one Muzuva Madzivanyika and went on to investigate and that is when they saw Kanyimo outside the house grabbing his 11 months old baby, Tadisa by the mouth. He dragged her for about 200 metres away before smashing her head with a wooden how handle.

 

Earlier on, according to the report, and inside his house, Kanyimo had fatally assaulted his wife, Chipo Shava (30) with a hoe handle before stabbing his six year old son, Innocent with a knife leading to their death inside the house.

 

Kanyimoā€™s other son, Tapiwa aged about five was rescued by Matavire who left him at his house.

 

While in the streets Kanyimo became violent and the mob had to pelt him with stones.
