The former president of the Republic of Zambia’ Rupiah Banda is allegedly unwell.

 

According to multiple sources, Banda left Samu Lya Moomba ceremony prematurely today.

 

He took to social media to thank the people of Zambia for praying for him during his illness.

 

Mr. Banda who has been battling colon cancer was among the dignitaries attending the Samu Lya Moomba traditional ceremony in Monze this afternoon.

 

He could however not finish the event and was escorted to the vehicle by among others Republican President Hakainde Hichilema who is attending the ceremony.

 

Samu Lya Moomba Lwiindi Traditional Ceremony is celebrated by the Tonga speaking people of Choongo Chiefdom in Monze District.

 

Samu lya Moomba is a site where Harry Mwaanga Nkumbula called a meeting under a tree to form the African National Congress to fight colonial rule.

 

It was at the site where Dr. Kenneth Kaunda was elected secretary while Nkumbula and Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe were elected president and treasurer general respectively. Diamond TV
