Farai Mubaiwa has been awarded the SRC award for exceptional achievement by Stellenbosch University Alumnus A.

The university’s top students who excelled in areas such as academics, leadership and social impact were honoured with Rector’s Awards for Excellent Achievement during an online event.

Posting on social media, Farai said few weeks ago she was honoured with an incredible award from Stellenbosch University – the 2021 SRC Award for Exceptional Achievement by an SU Alumnus.

“It is a full circle, as 5 years ago I sat in the audience of the Rector’s Awards and received an award for excellence in Leadership. I watched in awe as Nokwanda received the exceptional Alumni award that year and shared her experiences post University.

“I would have never imagined that 5 years later, I’d be honoured with the same award. And I believe I received this award not because I’m exceptional by any means, but because I’ve “dared greatly” and have been able to achieve excellence through adversity. I am Farai Mubaiwa, a Stellenbosch University alumni, a King’s College London alumni, the Co-Founder of the Africa Matters Initiative and the Chief Partnerships Officer at the Youth Employment Service (YES) South Africa.

“I am where I am today because I have dared greatly. Thank you Stellenbosch for honouring me. I hope my speech has inspired many to dare greatly. You are worthy and capable. Just dare”.
