The former South African president, Jacob Zuma is currently back at his Nkandla homestead in KwaZulu-Natal after being discharged from hospital.

Earlier this month, Zuma was released on medical parole, after serving almost two months of his prison sentence for contempt of court.

Zuma had ignored the Constitutional Court’s ruling that he continue testifying at the State Capture Commission hearings.

The Democratic Alliance (DA) and lobby group, Afriforum have since headed to the courts to challenge Fraser’s decision to grant Zuma medical parole.

Meanwhile, the former president is threatening to lay a criminal charge against Advocate Billy Downer following the alleged leak of a doctor’s letter on his health to a journalist.

Meanwhile Zuma’s corruption trial for a $2 billion government arms deal has been postponed to October 26.

The trial over the 1990s deal was meant to start in May, but has been postponed a number of times due to legal arguments and Zuma’s unavailability.

Zuma had surgery in August, but it is not clear what the surgery was for.
