Ian Khama explains why he uses private bodyguards

The UN wrote to Masisi in March after Khama revealed that there was an attempt to poison him and there was no response.

Watch as former Botswana President, Ian Khama speaks about his current troubles with the gvoernment of President Mokgweetsi Masisi.

Khama told the SABC that the Masisi is leading a banana republic and has been abusing state security agencies to harrass him.

Masisi said he has resorted to using private security to protect himself as the government of Masisi has been trying to undermine him and degrade the kind of security that they can provide.

Khama said Masisi arrested his private security for possessing a toy gun.

Khama said the harrassment has been ongoing for over three years. He said Masisi’s government has been losing all court case against him.

He said Botswana is no longer a normal democracy, but is the Belarus of Africa.
