Newly elected Zambian President, Hakainde Hichilema, today fired 13 diplomats and other senior civil servants.
Among the diplomats fired is the Zambia Ambassador to Zimbabwe.
Writing on Facebook, Hichilema said:
In line with our restructuring and reorganisation program, we have with immediate effect terminated the services of some government officials who include Permanent Secretaries as well as some ambassadors and staff that were in foreign missions.
We thank them for their services rendered to the nation. These changes will continue and will be done in line with our vision for our Country. We wish them all the best in their endeavours.
May God Bless our Country.
President of the Republic of Zambia.
