Popular award winning Zimbabwean journalist,  Hopewell Chin’ono  yesterday bid farewell to US Ambassador Brian Nichols, who is leaving after Zimbabwe today.

Writing on Facebook,  Chin’ono said:

Today I bid farewell to Brian Nichols the outgoing American Ambassador who leaves for the US tomorrow.

We had a long chat about where Zimbabwe will be when its leaders choose to take the right patriotic path, and stop LOOTING of public funds and plunder of its natural resources!

We also talked about the need for a strong media that is ethical and is able to hold those on public office to account, and also the need to have a State that respects the role of robust journalism.

Brian Nichols leaves to take up his new job as Assistant Secretary of State for the Western Hemisphere becoming the first African American to become the top diplomat for the Latin American region since Terence Todman in the 1970s.

We wish him the best and thank him for the support he gave to Zimbabwe and Zimbabweans!
