The President of Zimbabwe, His Excellency Emmerson Mnangagwa has arrived at the Heroes Stadium in Lusaka for President-Elect Hakainde Hichilema’s inauguration as President of Zambia.

Hakainde Hichilema will be sworn in today as the 7th president of Zambia.

 

He defeated the incumbent leader and long time rival, Edgar Lungu in the presidential elections that took place on the 12th of August 2021.

 

The Inauguration Ceremony is being attended by many head of states which include Mokgweetsi Masisi, Dr Lazarus Chakwera, Cyril Ramaphosa among other African leaders.

 

He also invited opposition leaders from various countries.

 

The opposition leaders who are attending the event are Nelson Chamisa and his vice president Tendai Biti, Mmusi Maimane of South Africa among others.
