The President of the Republic of Botswana, Mokgweetsi Masisi is set to leave Botswana today to attend the inauguration ceremony of Zambia’s president elect, Hakainde Hichilema.

The Inauguration Ceremony will be held on 24th August 2021 at the Heroes Stadium in Lusaka.

His Excellency Mr. Hichilema, Leader of the United Party for National Development (UPND), was elected as the seventh (7th) President of Zambia following the country’s 2021 General Elections which took place on 12th August 2021.

Masisi will be accompanied by the Former President of Botswana, His Excellency Mr. Festus G. Mogae; Minister of International Affairs and Cooperation, Honourable Dr. Lemogang Kwape; Leader of the Opposition, Honourable Mr. Dumelang Saleshando and Senior Government Officials.

The President and his delegation will return to Gaborone on 24th August 2021.
