Award winning independent journalist Hopewell Chinono has lost his cousin to coronavirus pandemic which has claimed thousands in Zimbabwe.
The journalist revealed the sad news through his social media platforms.
According to Chinono, his Cousin George always advised him on different matters.
“Mukoma wangu George has passed on.
There was nothing significant I would do without consulting him.
I am gutted, it is yet another sad reality that Covid-19 is taking the best away from us.
Thank you for everything you did for me Moyo Mupfuyiwa, Chirandu, Gono. RIP Mukoma,” tweeted Chinono
As at 03 August 2021, Zimbabwe had 112 435 confirmed cases, including 81 570 recoveries and 3 676 deaths.
To date, a total of 1 707 671 people have been vaccinated against COVID-19.
