The President of Botswana, Mokgweetsi Masisi is set to bid farewell to Botswana Defence Force contigent leaving for Mozambique on 26 July.

The army will leave the Sir Seretse Khama International Airport at 1000hrs.

The army is on a mission to support Republic of Mozambique to combat the threat of terrorism and acts of violent extremism in the Cabo Delgado Region.

The Botswana Defence Forces will work intently with the Forcas Amadas de Defesa de Mozambique and other forces from Southern Africa Development Community to include countries that have bi-lateral agreements with the Republic of Mozambique in designated sectors of responsibility within the Cabo Delgado Region.

Earlier this month, Rwanda also sent its troops to support the government of Mozambique.
