The untimely death of Trevor Ncube’s mother comes following the death of his father.

Ncube lost his father 3 days ago. Trevor Ncube’s father died at the age of 86.

The popular media practitioner also lost his niece yesterday. She also succumbed to Covid-19.

“My 32 year old niece Lorraine Ncube passed on last night in Harare due to COVID-19. Zimbabwe has lost a bright , talented and courageous woman. A true free spirit , Lorraine was a loving and hard working person.
COVID-19 has robbed us of two precious people in our family in just one week. My mother is still in a COVID-19 high dependence unit oblivious to the fact that her partner for 62 years is no more. Now her grand child is no more. How are we going to break this shocking news to her? There are no words to describe the pain we are going through.
We arrived back in Harare late Monday and passed through to see Lorraine who said she was fine and looked OK and then proceeded home. 30 minutes later we received the shocking call that she had passed on. She had tested positive Tuesday last week and she was in isolation and receiving treatment. She could not attend my father’s/her grandfather’s funeral.
The sense we get from spending time at Nyaradzo Funeral Services and hospitals in Harare and Bulawayo over the past few days is that many families are experiencing the same trauma and some worse than us. COVID-19 is ravaging families and inflicting tremendous pain, anxiety and trauma.
Lorraine will be laid to rest tomorrow (Wednesday) morning in Harare. Please take care of yourselves and your loved ones. Indications are that vaccinating is a great thing to do. Sanitize, social distance and wear face masks properly. Cover mouth and nose please.
A big thank you to Nyaradzo Group staff in Bulawayo and Harare for their empathy and professionalism. My brother Philip Mataranyika has put together an amazing group of people and built a great national brand and business.
I am praying for all those taking care of sick relatives and those grieving the loss of loved ones. My thoughts and prayers are with those battling from loss of livelihoods due to economic effects of the pandemic and unintended consequences of lockdowns. Keep the faith!!
My darling Lorraine I will miss your weekly calls – “just checking on you Malumez,” posted Trevor Ncube.
