South African giants Mamelodi Sundowns have announced the signing of Warriors defender Divine Lunga.

The Zimbabwean international joins the “Brazilians” on a three year deal.

Lunga was announced by Sundowns together with fellow signings Pavol safranko, Neo Maema and Grant Kekana, ending a three-year wait for a Zimbabwean to be part and parcel of the Masandawana family.

Other Zimbabwean players to have played for Sundowns include Khama Billiat, Kudakwashe Mahachi, Esrom Nyandoro, Method Mwanjali and Cuthbert Malajila among others.

Divine Lunga will be linking up with his former mentor Steve Komphela who currently acts as Mamelodi Sundowns’ senior coach.

Lunga has been a standard feature for Golden Arrows since joining them in 2018 and has made 84 appearances for the club while scoring once and assisting four more goals.

Lunga will be competing with the likes of Lyle Lakay, Aubrey Modiba and Tebogo Langerman at left-back.

Modiba and Lakay, arguably two of South Africa’s finest wing-backs at the moment, were both used on a rotational basis during the Brazilians’ bumper local and continental schedule.
