The Spokesperson of African National Congress (ANC) Pule Mabe is condemning the violence as well as the looting of shops by pro Zuma protesters in different parts of South Africa.

Mabe says that the governing party should not be held accountable for those stealing as well as damaging public property in the name of the former president.

“These are not ANC members. We must be careful. We must not make the ANC to be part of something that the organisation did not function on. These are criminals engaging ii criminal activities, it has got nothing to do with ANC. Crime is a crime, and must be persecuted in the same way as all other crimes that are associated with theft are being persecuted,” said Mabe.

Since Zuma’s arrest thousands have been engaging in criminal activities such as looting of shops, burning of trucks and destruction of property among others.

The angry protesters are calling for the release of former South African president Jacob Zuma who was jailed for 15 months after he failed to appear in court several times.
