An unnamed teacher has been left homeless after the Goromonzi Rural District Council demolished houses in Melfort last Friday.

In a video circulating on social media, an almost complete house belonging to an unnamed teacher is among hundreds of houses that were demolished by Goromonzi Rural District Council in Diamond Park, Melfort last week.

The unnamed teacher said he had permission from the central government to build it in the first place.

“My house has been destroyed, they started with the room where I was staying whilst building other rooms,” he said.

He says he has nowhere to stay adding that he will acquire tents to shelter him.

Hundreds of houses have been demolished countrywide with authorities arguing that they were erected in undesignated places.

The Harare city council destroyed illegal Structures in Mbare, Parktown and Zindoga shopping centres few weeks back.

However, Zanu-PF’s acting political Commissar, Patrick Chinamasa blamed the MDC officials for the demolitions saying that they illegally allocated stands to the citizens.
