The Southern African Development Community (SADC) Council ministers  convened a  meeting on 22 June 2021 chaired by the  Executive Secretary, Her excellency Dr Stergomena Lawrence Tax.

The Ministerial Meeting was attended by SADC Ministers or their representatives from Angola, Botswana, Democratic Republic of Congo, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, South Africa, United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

The main objective of the meeting was to consider critical issues, the one’s that were not considered during the meeting held in March 2021, especially Implementation Plan for Regional Indicative Strategic and Development Plan (RISDP).

In a statement,Dr Stergomena  also talked about critical measures to contain the Covid 19 pandemic.

She went on to discuss about gender and development which has positive trend to other places while other remain behind.

“HIV and AIDS efforts resulted in reduction of new effections of HIV by 37.3% which is still far less than the decrease of 59.4% observed globally, she said.

She  passed  her condolences to Zambia following the passing on of their first president Kenneth Kaunda.
