DOCTORS’ residence flat at Mpilo Hospital in Bulawayo was under fire around midnight on Wednesday and causes of the fire are still unclear.
The fire at Mpilo Central Hospital Doctors’ quarters was confirmed by Professor Solwayo Ngwenya, the acting chief executive officer of the institution.
Ngwenya wrote on social media,
“Terrible things at our hospital. Thixo why us, why?? Mpilo Central Hospital our only pride!! Why!! Gutted!”
Another Doctor, Dr Misheck Ruwende wrote:.
“At least we all alive but few items bought by poor Doctors perished.”
The flames are said to have destroyed property worthy thousands of dollars and some doctors who reside in the flat lost everything.
Mpilo Hospital is one of Zimbabwe’s largest hospitals.
