The top forensic pathologist Dr David Fowler hired to defend fired United States police officer Derek Chauvin, accused of murdering George Floyd by painfully choking him to death in a high-profile global case dramatised by #BlackLivesMatter
campaign, is originally from Zimbabwe.

The News Hawks report that
Fowler was born in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe.

He finished medicine and surgery studies in 1983, and then followed that with pediatric pathology at the Red Cross Children’s Hospital and the University of Cape Town before moving to Baltimore in 1991 and then the University of Maryland.

Meanwhile, Fowler, who graduated from the University of Cape Town in South Africa, told jurors that Floyd had lived with his arteries narrowing by up to 90%.

He said Chauvin’s kneeling on Floyd was not a major contributor to his death as the knee was not anywhere near Floyd’s airway.
