Political analyst Ibbo Mandaza says Zimbabwe is not ready to the commonwealth.
In an interview on SABC, Ibbo said Zimbabwe was still far from rejoining the Commonwealth as it is yet to complete political and economic reforms prescribed as a condition for readmission.
“It is difficult to understand how Zimbabwe will rejoin the commonwealth under its current situation”, he said.
Mandaza said there is massive violation of human rights, abuse of the rule of law, lack of constitutionalism, unaccountable abductions which has attracted sanctions for Zimbabwe for over 30 years.
Zimbabwe left the Commonwealth, a 53-member grouping made up largely of former British colonies, in 2003.
