Nobert Wine, from Karoi, said he killed his wife Danayi Nyikadzino in 2018.

Nobert said he was born in the family of nine, six of whom have died. After his mother died of cancer, things fell apart at the home.

When he was 20, Nobert said he was forced to marry his wife, who was 17. He first met her at his church, Joanne Masowe.

Nobert said on the 7th of September, he asked Danayi out. On the 10th of September, after only three days, she came to visit him at his home and refused to leave.

Nobert said it was around 5pm and he dragged her to the bus stop as he did not want to her to stay.

While at the bus stop, Nobert said he saw his father, John Ngoni Wine, holding a beer. He told the father what had happened. Nobert told his father that he did not want to marry the girl. His father gave him a dollar for transport to take her to her home.

After a short while his brother, Jelousy Wine, came and he told him the story.

While Nobert was trying to stop cars, the girl would run away and refuse to get in.

She eventually agreed to leave.

When they arrived at her home, she refused to go into the house. He walked with her to seek mediation at a church elder, Madzibaba Tynerg.

The church elder reffered him to another elder. They were given a room to sleep in. He said during the night, Danayi came into the blanket and he eventually slept with her.

On the next day, the issue was resolved and she went back to her home, but they were now lovers.

On 29 October, she came back to his home and they started living together as husband and wife.

On 12 December, he says his wife was washing their clothes and he complained that his clothes were not clean. He asked an elder to intervene.

He said Danayi Angrily went to a dam to wash the clothes, instead of washing them at the water tap. When she came back, Nobert found out that Danayi had taken $50 from his house without asking him. He had planned to use the money to pay her mother.

He said on the same day, her friends, Chipo Run’anga and Shiela Zimbeva said they wanted to go and consult a traditional healer. However, he said found out that his wife had left and gone on her own.

He said followed her. On the way he saw his wife’s foot mark size 39. He saw her foot mark with another shoe mark of a man.

When he followed his wife, he was accompanied by Wellington Zinyemba.

When they arrived at the shops, he saw his wife and she ran away to hide at another house. The matter was addressed.

On the Friday, he paid the money that was taken by his wife to his mother in law.

On the same day, Danayi left again to consult a traditional healer.

Nobert followed her again.

On the way he said he found his wife ‘s foot mark with the same male foot mark. He followed the foot marks.

After 100m he saw his wife in a bush sleeping with a man, totally naked. He said he kicked the man. However, as his hand was in a plaster, he could not fight the man.

He started to fight his wife until he got to a dust road while his wife was totally naked. Four young men saw him beating his wife and they were afraid to approach because she was naked. They followed from a distance.

Nobert said after a while he removed his hand from the bandage, while beating her with the plaster.

When they were about to get home she collapsed and died.

Nobert said the lover was found and he saw him for the first time in court, However, the man denied that he was caught red handed with Danayi.

The family made a plan to say that Danayi was hit by a car. However, detectives did not believe the story. After interrogation, he confessed.

Nobert was sentenced to 18 years on 4 September 2019.
