The Zimbabwe Republic Police has dismissed the reported break-in at the office of Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) chairperson Justice Loice Matanda-Moyo as a false alarm.

In a press statement national spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi according to investigations carried out by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), no break-in occured at the offices.

The police said an old curtain rail moved on its own due to wear and tear, and in the process moved a ceiling panel, giving the appearance that the office had been broken into.

“Thorough investigations by crime scene investigators from the CID had established that there was no break-in and that nothing had been tampered with or stolen”, read the statement.

Matanga however confirmed that there was a break in into her premises, “Yes, there was a break-in at my office. Investigations are in progress”.
