Zimbabwean, Zivanai Katiti (38) was paid for months after he was deported from South Africa. Katiti earned over R1 Million a year at Rand West Local Municipality.

Katiti was deported to Zimbabwe on 8  September 2020 by the South Africa Department Of Home Affairs for having a fake Identity card.

An employee told the Star Newspaper that Katiti was paid his full salary in October, November and December.

However, the municipal manager, Themba Goba , dismissed the allegations. Goba said Katiti’s contract was terminated as soon as the municipality received correspondence from the department of home affairs.

Former municipality manager, Norah Lion, said she refused to authorize payments to Katiti after he was deported.

She claimed that Katiti was paid his salary and benefits even though he had been deported.

She said he was paid his salary for September, October and November, and she is not sure about December because she left the municipality before salary payments were made.

The Opposition DA has slammed the municipality for paying Katiti and called for an investigation.
