South Africa President, Cyril Ramaphosa, has gone to court to oppose an application by the EFF, which wants documents containing names of those who funded his ANC presidential campaign in 2017 released.

The CR17 funding committee and others who campaigned for Ramaphosa have submitted their responding affidavits at the North Gauteng High Court in Pretoria, arguing that the matter has already been dealt with.

Ramaphosa ‘s team argued that a full bench of the high court had already set aside the findings of a report released by Public Protector, Adv Busisiwe Mkhwebane, which they said was illegal.

The court found in March 2020 that the documents were the results of an unlawful investigation.

They argued that the EFF had already been given a chance to view the documents in October 2019, when representatives from various organizations were given access to the documents before they were sealed by Deputy Judge  President, Aubrey Ledwaba.
