Joana Mamombe and Cecelia Chimbiri haveĀ  been evacuated from their cell at Chikurubi after a snake dangled its head from the ceiling.

The serpent was spotted dangling from the roof by an inmate sharing the quarters with the female politicians.

The duo screamed for help until the prison officials came and opened the doors about 2 hours later.

The serpent is still on loose as the Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority (ZimParks) have not attended to the matter.

The girls are now fearing for their lives as they donā€™t understand how a snake ended up in the roof.

Mamombe and Chimbiri were last week denied bail by magistrate Vongai Muchuchuti-Guwiriro who remanded them to 23 March.

They were arrested on 5 March after they held a Press conference at the Harare Magistrates Court in protest over the arrest of MDC Alliance committee member, Makomborero Haruziviishe.
