The body of the Italian ambassador Luca Attanasio who died at 43 years old from gunshot wounds arrived on Tuesday evening in Rome.

Luca was injured along with bodyguard Vittorio lacovacci and a WFP Congolese driver, Moustapha Milambo.

The military plane carrying the bodies of the deceased was welcomed at Ciampino airport along with the ambassador’s surviving wife and their three daughters.

Meanwhile, the Italian foreign minister Luig Di Maio is calling for an investigation.

“We have formally asked WFP and the United Nations to open an investigation to clarify what happened, the reasons behind the security arrangements used and who was responsible for these decisions,” said Luigi.

Congo had blamed the attack on Rwandan Hutu rebels who immediately denied the allegations.
