Soldiers from the Somali army exchanged heavy gunfire with opposition fighters during a march in Mogadishu yesterday. A number of people were killed as opposition fighters also returned fire.

The fighting comes amid delays in holding the Presidential election and the continued stay of current President, two weeks after the end of his term

Prime Minister, Mohammed Hossein Robley, speaking to Al Jazeera, said he will not accept opposition demonstrations that are guarded by forces outside state security.

The Somali military said opposition fighters fired the first shots.
